Could be a typo for Lyndon, Osage County, but I need verification. Passed away January 30, 1930, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Father was Charles, also born in Linden. This was the spelling on death certificate signed by Zerah's wife, Margaret. Zerah "Rip" Hagerman played baseball for the Topeka White Sox of the Western Association in 1908; the Chicago Cubs of the National League in 1909; the Lincoln (Nebraska) Railsplitters of the Western League, 1910-12; the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League in 1913 and 1916; and the Cleveland Indians of the American League in 1914-15. One baseball source from the early 1900s identified place of birth "Lynden, Sumner County, Kan." This would rule out Osage County, but death certificate filled out by his spouse might be more reliable, except for spelling. I find no record of either Linden or Lynden in Kansas. There was a London in Sumner County, but that would not explain why spouse twice stated "Linden" for place of birth for Zerah and Charles. Can anyone help? Thank you. |
