Handwritten note says "This picture was taken Paralta, Iowa 30 May 1903. The day of the sale - and 'the day they gave little boys away.' Back: Josephine, Loring. Front - L to R: Don, Edith, Iva, Leo. The Lacock family. That day - Don was taken to live with Emma J. Starry and adopted by her"
