Query:In the 1930's Edith Pauline (Murphy) OVERSTREET wrote two books, trying to keep body and soul together. I am looking for a copy of these books. One is TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF A WICHITA FAMILY and the other is OLD FOLKS.
Edith was the widow of Nellmer O. OVERSTREET, who died in Wichita circa 1933. They lived in the 2300 block of South Mead Street.

Members of the Overstreet family are very interested in finding a copy of these books to learn more of their family while they were in Wichita. Two of Edith's sons, Richard C. and Stanley, had a gasoline station at 2500 Maple, called Overstreet Brothers Station.

Isaac was mustered into 2nd Indpt Battery, Kansas Light Artillery 28 April 1864., along with whom I believe to be his brother Robert Lawrence b. 20 Jan 1832, d. 18 Mar 1903 (interred in Mackville Cemetary, Piatt Co. Illinois) m. Martha Clingon. I also believe he had a sister Elizabeth b. 30 June 1836 whom married A. William Smith b 17 Dec 1832.

I have Isaac and Robert's pension papers, and Isaac was denied, as well as his widow Sarah in 1883 after Isaac was presumed dead after disappearing ca 1876.

Isaac is believed to have been born in Edgar Co., Illinois, but I have been unable to confirm that.
